Like with most procedures it’s all about how you look after your body post-op!
Although fat transfer produces instant results, post-surgical inflammation and bruising can take up to a fortnight to disappear. It can take several weeks for bruises to fade completely. Full results can take up to 6 months to appear, although your results will be affected if you gain or lose weight in the future. Over time, some of the fat will resorb, but the quantity will vary from person to person. Scars may remain red for a while, although they normally fade over time.
Will there be any scarring as a result of this procedure?
Fat is harvested and injected through small incisions using small cannulas. Even though the incisions are small and hidden, there may be noticeable scars. I’ll go over what you may expect during your consultation.
Is the recuperation period lengthy?
Individual recovery times vary, but most people may expect to be out of commission for 7 to 14 days. To keep the swelling down following a face fat transfer, keep your head elevated for at least 48 hours after the treatment. We usually recommend taking two weeks off work, but depending on how quickly you recover and the type of work you do, you may be able to return sooner or later. It takes at least 6 weeks for full results to appear, however this varies from person to person.
